Are they really natural?
These days, it feels like every brand is calling itself “natural.” Walk down the aisles at Trader Joe’s, Target, or Whole Foods, and you’ll see products from companies claiming to be “clean” and “safe.” But flip the bottle over, and you’ll often find preservatives like phenoxyethanol, sodium benzoate, and potassium sorbate, ingredients that are known irritants and can release harmful byproducts over time. Let’s not forget about the parfum (fragrances). If you see “fragrance” or “parfum” on a label, chances are you’re being exposed to a hidden cocktail of synthetic chemicals. Unlike essential oils, “fragrance” is a vague, unregulated term that can contain hundreds of undisclosed ingredients including allergens, hormone disruptors, and even carcinogens. Candles sold in stores use synthetic fragrances, soy wax or paraffin wax which are chemically processed.
